On April 7-9, 2014, Sherry Pearce, Corporate Marketing/Admissions Director with Hope Healthcare, Deerview Nursing & Rehab’s management company, met with over 900 Alzheimer's Advocates at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC for the 2014 Alzheimer's Association Advocacy Forum. She is Ambassador in the First Congressional District of Arkansas to U. S. Representative, Rick Crawford. She met with Representative Crawford in his Congressional Office in DC on April 9, to discuss upcoming legislative issues in regards to Alzheimer's funding a research. Sherry and several other advocates around the state of AR. asked Congressman Crawford to co-sponsor the HOPE for Alzheimer's Act which will improve care and outcomes for Americans living with the Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers by improving access to diagnosis, providing care planning services, and ensuring that a diagnosis is documented in the medical record.

In addition to this, Sherry and the constituents asked that Congressman Crawford send a letter to the Chair and Ranking member of the Appropriations Committee to support a $200 Million increase for Alzheimer's research activities. Also discussed was the fact that Alzheimer's is the most expensive disease in America today with costs exceeding $214 Billion, including $150 Billion to Medicare and Medicaid. It is the 6th leading cause of death in which there is no cure and more than 5 million Americans, including 60,000 Arkansans have the disease. Please join Sherry in the "Fight To End Alzheimer's".
